Poetry: Two poems by Beata

Through My Window

A glimpse of life

Engages me

Sounds enter

And leave

A momentary vision

Of occasional

Passers by

Unaware

Of the stage

On which they perform

Leaving

Nothing behind

But an unchanged

Canvas

Estranged

By a pane

Framed to perfection.

SLOW

The vortex of life pulls at my inner core

Threatening to leave me behind

As I try to soak up the sun

And dance with the wind.

Racing time has become the common pursuit

Multitasking life

Squeezing in more pointless pursuits,

In a virtual reality

While life passes us by

In its own good time.

Caught in the whirlwind

Of efficiencies,

Denying that cost effectiveness

Comes at a huge price.

And resisting leads to resistance.

Technological advances

Celebrate

At the cost of

Human estrangement.

Hours spent on laptops, i-phones and x-boxes

Replacing time spent with those we love.

Messages and emails

Replace a look , a smile, a touch…

The cold anonymity of technology

Replaces the warmth of human interaction.

The vortex of life pulls at my inner core

Threatening to leave me behind

As I try to soak up the sun

And dance with the wind.
